Thank you for your interest in submitting to HCE Review. All submissions should be sent via Submittable. We want to read your work, in fact, we love it! However, we do ask that you take care in reading these guidelines carefully as any submissions received that do not follow these guidelines will be deleted unread. Don’t give us a reason to reject your work before we’ve even had a chance to read it!
Please include a cover letter in a separate attachment with your name, an author bio of up to 100 words, the title of your piece, and contact information (including your email address).
Please do not include your name or contact information on the submission itself.
We only accept previously unpublished work.

Fiction and Creative Non-Fiction
Please specify the title, type of submission (fiction, creative non-fiction) in the subject line, as per the following format: “Title_Type of Submission”.
Please attach one piece of fiction or creative non-fiction of up to 3000 words as a .doc or .docx file (no pdfs). It should be double-spaced and in 12 point Times New Roman font unless the nature of the work demands otherwise.
In the case of poetry, please specify both titles, and type of submission as per the following format: “Title, Title_Type of Submission”.
Please attach up to two poems, with a maximum of 50 lines per poem, in a single .doc or .docx file (again, no pdfs). They should be double-spaced and in 12 point Times New Roman font, unless the nature of the work demands otherwise.
Please specify the title, type of submission (artwork) in the subject line, as per the following format: “Title_Type of Submission”.
Please attach up to three images as three separate files in either .jpg, .gif, or .png format. They should be sent in the largest size and highest resolution available, with the understanding that the published image will be resized to a maximum of 400×550 pixels.
By submitting, you are stating that the work submitted is your own and has not been plagiarised in any way.
